LunarNewYearEvents.com helps you find Lunar New Year celebrations near you: parades, lion and dragon dances, festivals, night markets, performances and family events across the United States and Canada, all in one place.

Why we built this site
“Red envelopes from the whole family, my mom’s cooking, the drums of the lion dance. That’s what Lunar New Year means to me. We built this site so you can feel that same youthful feeling of excitement at a celebration near you. 😉 ”
Ben, founder of LunarNewYearEvents.com
Growing up, Lunar New Year meant hóngbāo (red envelopes) from parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents, homemade jiǎozi (dumplings) and guōtiē (potstickers), and an afternoon at the local cultural center watching the lion and dragon dances. And then, of course, the food stalls.
“My very favorite was lǔ ròu fàn, braised pork belly over rice, with a soy-braised egg (lǔ dàn) on the side. I’d circle back to the stalls two or three times.”

Finding those celebrations shouldn’t mean searching a dozen websites and social media pages. So we gather them into one calendar, organized by city and by type of event, with dates, times, locations and links to the organizers.
How we find events
- Organizers: we follow the websites and calendars of event organizers and community groups.
- Ticketing services: some listings come from official ticketing event data.
- You: organizers and readers can submit an event.
Every listing is reviewed before it is published. Dates and details can change, so please check the organizer’s page before you go. Spot a mistake? Let us know and we’ll fix it.
How we write our guides
Our guides to Lunar New Year dates, traditions, the Year of the Goat, Tết and Seollal are based on official calendars and trusted sources, which we list at the end of every guide.
