LunarNewYearEvents.com helps you find Lunar New Year celebrations near you. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. In short: we collect very little, we never sell your email address, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.
Who we are

Information you give us
- Event alerts (“Notify me”). Your email address and the city you want alerts for. We send one email first so you can confirm the sign-up (double opt-in); nothing else is sent until you confirm.
- Event submissions. The event details you enter (name, dates, venue, address, links, price, organizer and description), which we may publish after review, and your email address, which we use only to ask about the listing and never publish.
- Contact form. Your name, email address and message, used to reply to you.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand which pages people visit, roughly where they visit from, and what devices they use, so we can improve the site. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can block it with your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Maps. City and event maps come from Google Maps and load only when you choose to show them. When a map loads, Google receives your IP address and other technical information under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Spam protection. To stop automated form spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for about an hour when you submit a form. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.
- Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical information (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
Advertising and cookies
We plan to show ads from Google AdSense to keep the site free.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

How we use information
- To send the event alerts you asked for, at most one email a day and only when new events are added for your city.
- To review, publish and update event listings.
- To answer your messages.
- To understand how the site is used, fix problems and keep it secure.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your email address or contact details. We share information only with the services that help us run the site:
- Our website host (10Web), which stores the site and its data.
- Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES), which delivers our emails. It tells us if an email bounces or is marked as spam, so we stop sending to that address.
- Google, for analytics, maps and ads as described above.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its visitors.
How long we keep it
- Event alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Event submissions: as long as the listing is useful (published events stay online as an archive of past celebrations).
- Contact messages: as long as we need them to help you and keep a record of the conversation.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every alert email.
- See, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing events@lunarnewyearevents.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.
- Turn off personalized ads using the links in the advertising section above.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, other US states or Canada), you may have additional privacy rights. Email us and we’ll help.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to our systems. No website can be perfectly secure, so please don’t send sensitive information through our forms.
Visitors outside the United States
The site is run from the United States, and the information you send us is processed and stored there.
