Ever wanted to try a dragon dance yourself? At the Museum of Surrey’s free Lunar New Year celebration, you can take a lesson, then settle in for poetry, dance and storytelling. The City of Surrey runs it every year with the non-profit Chinese Village Club. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet; the most recent celebration was Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1 to 4 PM.
What to Expect
The afternoon program mixes hands-on fun with performances: dragon dance lessons, poetry, traditional and modern dance, tai chi demonstrations and storytelling.
Workshops have also explored how Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese families celebrate the New Year, so it’s a good pick if you want the kids to learn a little along the way.
