Drums, cymbals and an eye-dotting ceremony bring the lion and dragon to life at CF Richmond Centre’s free Lunar New Year dance. The performance takes place in the mall’s Old Navy Court on No. 3 Road in Richmond. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet; the most recent dance was Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2 to 3 PM.
What to Expect
The eye-dotting ceremony is the traditional moment a lion is “awakened” before it dances, so arrive a little early to catch it.
In 2026 the dance led into more Lunar New Year activities on later weekends: calligraphy sessions where an artist writes your family name or zodiac character, lantern-making workshops, and a visit from the God of Fortune handing out lucky red envelopes. In 2025 the mall marked the Year of the Snake with dance performances, a lion dance and the God of Fortune.
