Lunar New Year 2027 Events in Atlanta, GA

Lunar New Year's Day is Saturday, February 6, 2027, the start of the Year of the Goat, and celebrations often continue for about two weeks, through the Lantern Festival on Saturday, February 20.

Mark Sunday, February 7, 2027: the 6th annual Decatur Lunar New Year festival, a pan-Asian celebration, runs from 11 am to 5 pm at Ebster Courtyard at the Beacon Municipal Center in Decatur. Adult tickets are $10, and kids get in free.

"Growing up, my favorite part of Lunar New Year was always the lion and dragon dances. You hear the drums before you see anything. Then the lion bursts in, and every kid in the room forgets to breathe." (Ben, founder of LunarNewYearEvents.com)

"Right after the dances came the food: home-cooked dishes from the vendors. My very favorite was lǔ ròu fàn (braised pork belly over rice), with a lǔ dàn (soy-braised egg) on the side. I'd circle back to the stalls two or three times. Nobody leaves those celebrations hungry." (Ben)
