Little ones tend to remember their first lion dance up close for a long time, and Lunar New Year at the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose makes that easy. The museum calls it its annual Lunar New Year celebration. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet; in 2026 it took place Saturday, February 7, 2026, starting at 9:30 am.
What to expect
In 2026, Yun Yee Tong USA performed lion dances at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. Viet Steps and 720 Martial Arts Academy also took the stage.
The Chinese Historical and Cultural Project led a Year of the Horse read-aloud and cultural activities, and kids could make a flower-branch craft in the Neiman Art Studio. It’s a museum built for kids, so expect hands-on fun more than sitting still.
