There’s a particular hush right before an orchestra starts, and at the San Francisco Symphony Lunar New Year Concert it gives way to music rooted in Asian traditions past and present. This annual, ticketed concert takes place at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet.
What to expect
The 2026 concert, celebrating the Year of the Horse, was held on Saturday, February 28, at 5pm, with Mei-Ann Chen conducting. A banquet followed the concert that year.
It’s an elegant way to mark the season, and a good excuse to finally wear that jacket hanging in the back of your closet.
