Lunar New Year at Lan Su Chinese Garden turns a walled garden in Portland into a weeks-long celebration, with lion dances by day and glowing lanterns after dark. The garden sits at 239 NW Everett Street. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet; in 2026 the festival ran from Tuesday, February 17, to Sunday, March 8.

What to expect

Daytime activities come with regular garden admission: lion dances, cultural performances, calligraphy and family crafts. On weekend afternoons, lion dances are performed by Portland Lee’s Association and White Lotus Foundation.

The separately ticketed Lantern Viewing Evenings add lantern sculptures, a zodiac light show and a dragon dance procession. There’s also a sensory-friendly lantern night. Dress warm: lanterns look their best on a cold, clear night, and so do you in a good scarf.
