The Malden Lunar New Year Celebration starts with street snacks and crafts and finishes with an afternoon of lion dance, Peking Opera and live bands in Malden, Massachusetts. It is a full day out without a ticket price. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet; in 2026 it was held Saturday, February 7, at Malden High School’s Jenkins Auditorium.
What to expect
The day comes in two parts. The Lunar New Year Fair, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., has food and cultural booths, street snacks and hands-on Chinese crafts. From 1 to 4 p.m. the stage takes over with a lion dance, Peking Opera, Chinese dance, traditional music, modern bands and a fashion showcase.
The 2026 edition, the 17th annual, also included the unveiling of the USPS Year of the Horse stamp by the local postmaster. Come hungry for the fair and stay for the show.
