Kids and lion dancers share plenty of energy and a love of a big finish, which makes the Lunar New Year Bash at Children’s Museum Houston, the museum’s yearly celebration for families in Houston, a natural fit. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet. In 2026 it ran Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15.
What to expect
Soaring Phoenix performs the lion dance, and in 2025 the finale moved outside to PlayScape. Cultural dance performances round out the program.
Kids also learn about traditions like red envelopes, the gifts of money given at Lunar New Year. It’s a hands-on, kid-sized introduction to the holiday.
