Ever seen a lion breathe fire? At the Asia Times Square Lunar New Year Festival in Grand Prairie, a free celebration at an Asian market center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, it’s part of the show across three weekends. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet. In 2026 the 19th annual festival ran Friday through Sunday, February 6-8 and February 13-15, and Saturday and Sunday, February 21-22.
What to expect
Lion dances, including fire-breathing lion routines, share the spotlight with K-pop (Korean pop) dance groups and singers. Dozens of food vendors set up, and a Lunar New Year altar and decorations fill the space.
Things open with speeches by the Loh family, who run the market, in several languages including Vietnamese and English. Expect firecrackers, and watch kids feed red envelopes to the lions. The final weekend has been a firecracker show without vendors.
