Glowing handmade lanterns after dark at the zoo: Lunar New Year at Fresno Chaffee Zoo turns a winter evening in Fresno into a lantern-lit stroll. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet. In 2026 it was held Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 5 to 9 pm.
What to expect
Handmade cultural lanterns light the way, and Asian food trucks keep everyone fed. Kids can head to the craft corner to decorate Lunar New Year masks.
The Long Fist Kung Fu Association performs, adding some kung fu (martial arts) to the evening. It’s a nice change of pace from a daytime zoo visit, and the animals might be just as curious about the lanterns as you are.
