Lion dancers have a way of turning an ordinary afternoon into a celebration in about ten seconds flat. The Lunar New Year Lion Dance at Asian Town Center brings that energy to Cleveland’s AsiaTown, with the Kwan Family Lion Dance team performing on Superior Avenue. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet; it was last held Sunday, February 22, 2026, starting at noon.
What to expect
This is a short daytime performance, so it’s an easy one to fit into a family outing. The Kwan Family Lion Dance team brings the lion to life with drums and quick footwork, and firecrackers go off at the E. 38th St. entrance.
In Lunar New Year tradition, the lion’s visit is meant to chase away bad luck and welcome good fortune. If little ones are sensitive to noise, the firecrackers are a good reason to keep a hand free for covering ears.
