More than 400 performers on one stage is a lot of costume changes, and the CAFA Lunar New Year Spectacular in Raleigh, North Carolina, pulls it off. The Chinese American Friendship Association of North Carolina (CAFA) presents the show, also known as its Chinese New Year Gala. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet.
What to expect
In 2026 the show took place on Sunday, February 8, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
The program blends dance, music, martial arts, chorus and visual storytelling into one evening. It’s a sit-back-and-watch kind of celebration, ideal if you’d rather cheer from a seat than squeeze through a crowd. CAFA’s gala was already an annual tradition by 2023, when it was held at Stewart Theatre at NC State.
