The Gala du Nouvel An chinois (French for Chinese New Year Gala) by Phoenix is a ticketed stage show at Place des Arts in Montréal. Imagine the curtain rising on a stage packed with dancers, musicians and color. The 2027 gala is set for Sunday, January 31, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.
What to expect
The gala blends Chinese performing-arts traditions with contemporary, multicultural staging. It is a big production: the 2025 edition put more than 100 artists on one stage.
That 2025 show, held Saturday, February 1, marked the 20th anniversary of the Phoenix New Year Gala. Phoenix Arts School also opened the 2025 Chinatown Lunar New Year parade, so the troupe is a familiar face during the season. Counting the performers might take you most of the first act.
