Lunar New Year at Phipps, also known as the Greater Pittsburgh Lunar New Year Fair and Show, brings performances to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet; the 29th annual celebration was held Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What to expect
Performances spread throughout the historic glasshouse: dragon and lion dance, waist drum, Peking opera, pipa (a pear-shaped lute), guzheng (a plucked zither) and martial arts. Food and craft vendors round out the day.
The Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show was open during the event, so you could catch a lion dance and a tiny tree in the same hour. The celebration is presented with the Chinese Association for Science and Technology-Pittsburgh Chapter (CASTP), and in 2025 it was held at Carnegie Museum of Art.
