There’s something special about a celebration run by young people for their whole community, and Lunar New Year San Jose: Bridging Generations (LNY:SJ) in San Jose is exactly that. This free, youth-led Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) festival takes over Grand Century Mall in San Jose’s Little Saigon. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet; the second annual edition ran Saturday and Sunday, January 25 and 26, 2025.
What to expect
The festival includes a Lunar New Year parade, and the 2025 parade was described as the first in San Jose in nearly 15 years. Around it you’ll find art exhibitions, live entertainment, dance performances, food and drink vendors, a marketplace and family games.
Partners include the Museum of the Boat People and the Republic of Vietnam (Viet Museum). It’s community-driven from top to bottom, which gives the whole day a neighborly feel.
