Firecrackers popping on Federal Boulevard are a sure sign the Far East Center Lunar New Year Celebration in Denver has started. The free two-day event takes place at the Far East Center in the Westwood neighborhood. The 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet; in 2026 it ran Saturday and Sunday, February 21 and 22, from 11 AM to 4 PM each day.
What to expect
Expect lion and dragon dances, firecrackers and martial arts, plus cultural performances and guest speakers. Food vendors and shopping round out the day in the Westwood neighborhood.
In 2025, a Lunar New Year street market also ran in the days before the celebration. By 2025 the celebration had been running for 34 years, so you’ll be joining a long-running Denver tradition. Tip: cover your ears for the firecrackers, then uncover them for the drums.
