The Tibetan Association of Alberta Losar Celebration in Calgary is a reminder that not every late-winter new year is Chinese, Vietnamese or Korean. It marks Losar (Tibetan New Year) with an annual community gathering in NE Calgary. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet; the most recent celebration was held Saturday, February 28, 2026.
What to expect
This is an annual Tibetan New Year celebration hosted by the Tibetan Association of Alberta, a community organization that brings people together each year to welcome Losar.
It’s held in a community hall rather than a big public venue, which gives it a neighborly, local feel. If you’ve spent February going from one Lunar New Year festival to the next, Losar is a reminder that the season is wider than you might think. Curious newcomers are a natural fit here: one of the easiest ways to learn about a holiday is to show up for it.
